**July 3-6 (Thurs-Sun) Shrewsbury, MA- Westies at the Wards LiMBO Campout at the Ward Family Estate. Celebrate Independence Day Weekend at this beautiful camping spot. Electricity and facilities are VERY limited. Camping is free, but we will be "passing the hat" to cover the cost of the "port-a-potty."  Many restaurants nearby. Activities include a trip to Green Hill Park in Worcester to attend The Summer Nationals, the greatest car show on the east coast! You can buy a daily spectator pass or get a weekend participant pass. It gets the driver plus one other person in every day. http://www.summernationals.com/index2.html  Also, John Jordan, who lives right down the road in Northboro, will let us use his pool and hot tub.The address of the Ward Family Estate is 993 Main Street in Shrewsbury, MA. It's right across the street from "Ski Ward." The campground is located behind the farmhouse, go left around the barn. **July 11-13 (Fri-Sun) Townsend, VT- West River Westies V at Bald Mountain Campground. 60 sites have been secured. This is a beautiful campground right next to the West River. If the river level is high enough, this is a great place for Xtreme tubing. There are w/e hook-ups, bathrooms and showers. Scheduled activities include a tube regetta, potluck supper Saturday night (Eric's famous ribs will be available for an extra charge), and a raffle with the proceeds going to the Grace Cottage Hospital. There will be dash plaques, and a commeratative t-shirt and sweatshirt will be available by advance order. They will be produced by a local screen-printer in nearby Newfane. More details about this as available. This is a great event in beautiful part of Vernont! July 13 (Sunday) Woodstock, CT - The CVA’s 4th Annual New England Volks-Meet at the Woodstock Fairgrounds from 9am to 3pm. Trophies will be awarded by people’s choice in many different classes. Show will be open to all Volkswagens and all German cars, owners and fans. Event will be held rain or shine. There will be dash plaques and goody bags to the first 200 cars. Admission: $15 for car and driver, $5 for spectators and passengers. Camping is available on Saturday starting at 12:00, for $25. This includes entrance fee for car and driver for the show on Sunday. Bathrooms and showers are available. There are events planned for Saturday, including live bands. There are plenty of food vendors at the show. Vendor spaces will be available on Sunday for : 10x10 inside - $35, outside - $25, 10x20: inside - $55, outside- $35. There will be entertainment for the kids both days. Come and enjoy a weekend of true German fun. Directions: From Hartford: Take Interstate 84 to Exit 73, follow Route 190E (to Union, CT) to Route 171. Either follow Route 171 directly to Fairgrounds or bear left on Route 197 to North Woodstock and follow Route 169 South to the Fairgrounds. From Worcester and New London: Follow Interstate 395 South from Worcester or North from New London and Norwich exiting at Exit 97. Follow Route 44 West to Putnam, turning West on Route 171. Fairgrounds are approximately 4.5 miles from this intersection. 

 

 

 

July 17-20 (Thurs.-Sun) Cape May County, NJ- Cape May Campout at Belleplain State Forest. For information about this forest, go to the website: http://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/belle.html You can also call (609) 861-2404. Cost is $1.00 a night. Flush toilets, showers, and laundry facilities are within walking distance. All rules for this state forest must be followed, including the carry-in/carry-out policy, You must carry out all trash you carry in. Bags are provided throughout the site. Directions: The forest can be reached via the Garden State Parkway by taking exit 17 southbound (exit 17) to Routes 9 and 550 or exit 13 northbound. Highway signs are provided to guide the motorist to the forest. Events: Thursday, set up camp, meet & greet. Friday, take a drive and watch the sunset.  **July 20, 2007 (Sunday)- Folding Party, 10 AM, at Steve and Mary's in Milbury, MA. This is a great place for this event, so come help us get out the newsletter. More details will follow as available. 

      

 

 

 

 

 

  **July 25-27 (Fri-Sun) Portsmouth, RI Buses in the Bay at the Melville Campground 181 Bradford Ave (off Rt. 114). Campground is just north of Newport and near the beach! Check in Friday is 11AM to 8PM, and check out is 11AM Sunday. You will need to call (401) 682-2424 to make reservations betwen 10AM and 5 PM only! (The campground does not take reservations by email.) As soon as the campground opens for the season, we will find out what the camping rate will be this year. When you make your reservation, tell them you are with LiMBO. We have the "Safari Field".  After calling in your reservation you must mail a deposit to hold your reservation. They do not accept credit cards! PLEASE RESERVE EARLY!!! DON'T MISS OUT!!!! Some of us may have to double up on the electric outlets which is OK with them. This year's cruise will be to Flo's Clam Shack for chowda and cakes as well as fried clams, fish and chips etc.  The cruise is at noon on Saturday. Saturday night at 6:30 is the pot-luck followed by the raffle. Aug 2nd (Sat) Shrewsbury, MA- Volks-Vair Fair. This annual show & swap meet is at Heberts Candy Mansion on Rt 20 Shrewsbury. Air cooled only show for VWs and Corvairs. Rain or shine. Trophies to 3rd place. Sponsored by The Bug club and Colonial Corvair Club. Great time, music, food plus great candy and ice cream at the Hebert Candy Mansion. Aug 2nd (Sat) Maine Show Caravan. This informal caravan will begin in Shrewsbury right after the Volks-Vair fair (about 3 PM) and travel to the Vacationland VW show for the VW show there on Sunday. A dinner stop along the way near Portland other stops if needed. (details about each VW show previous and below). Meet at the DJ booth. Aug 10 (Sun) Terryville, CT 17th Annual Terryville Bug-A-Fair. Large all VW show and swap meet at the Lions Club Fairgrounds, 129-176 Town Hill Road. Aug 17 (Sun) Vallejo, CA - .Nor-Cal Bus Fest III at the Solano County Fairgrounds. This display and swap event is open to ALL Volkswagen buses and trucks, regardless of year, model or condition. Held on the tree-shaded lawns of the fairgrounds, the inaugural event in 2007 featured 147 buses and trucks, from daily drivers to full restorations and everything in between. Aug 17 (Sun) Hampton, IL- Bi-State VW's 13th Annual Show & Shine Picnic  at Empire Park. Registration 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Free Entry - Donations accepted, all proceeds go to charity. Best of the Bunch Awards. Awards presented at 3:00 p.m. There will be dash plaques,  door prizes, and a swap meet. Camping is available at nearby Illiniwek Park. Directions: From I-80, take Highway 84. Follow Highway 84 to Hampton, IL. Hampton / Empire park is located on the Hampton / East Moline border right next to the Mississippi river and bike path. Aug 29-Sept 1 (Fri-Mon) Bloomsburg, PA Kampers Near Knoebels VIII at the Indian Head Campground. Come share in the annual Labor Day Weekend VW Bus/Corvair Van antics again this year in Pennsylvania’s beautiful coal region. The campground is located along the Susquehanna River and offers boating, fishing, and hiking trails. The campground does have restrooms and showers as well as a camp store. Event activities include evening campfires, Friday evening ice cream social, Saturday morning caravan to Knoebels Amusement Resort, Sunday morning potluck brunch, biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and talking vans! Campground rates per family (whether sharing sites or not) are $23 per night in the group site or $25 per night for sites with W/E. For W/E sites, request sites in “section A” to be close to group activities. Contact the campground at 570-784-6150 for reservations. Directions: From Interstate-80, take the Buckhorn Exit #232.  **Sept 5-7 (Fri-Sun)  Buses by the Buoy '08 Event will be held somewhere in the mid-coast region of Maine. Details are still being worked out, but save the date! Event is organized by Michael and Sheila King:  vacvw@adelphia.net

 

 Sept 20-21 (Sat-Sun) Flanders, NJ All Air-Cooled Gathering hosted by the Central Jersey Volkswagen Society and the Swim and Sport Club located at 272 Emmans Rd. Come spend an all air-cooled VW weekend at this pastoral setting  Gates will open at 2:00 pm on Saturday for camping, and VW camaraderie, and again at 8:00 am on Sunday for the show and swap meet. Everyone is welcome to enter the show, daily drivers to show cars. As long as it’s an air-cooled VW, it’s welcome. All proceeds will go to the Jonathan Fund. A fund set up to help aid the family of Jonathan Ferguson, a local Flander’s boy who was born with a debilitating medical condition. Trophies – Dash Plaques – Raffle Prizes – On-site bar and kitchen. The food is great and everything is reasonably priced. No need to bring your own food!  **Sept 21 (Sunday)- Folding Party, 10 AM, at the home of Carolyn and John Jordan in Northboro, MA. This house is rapidly becoming the official LiMBO party house. Sept 25-28 (Thurs-Sun) Berlin, MD- Pony Pitch Campout on Assateaque Island, about 20 minutes from Ocean City MD. Go camping at Maryland's only ocean park located on a barrier island bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by Sinepuxent Bay. You'll be camping RIGHT ON THE BEACH!! There are 2 miles of ocean beaches that offer swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing, surfing and fishing. The campground includes beach houses and hot showers. Further details about event activities as they become available, but may include a pot luck supper and a trip to a local BBQ stand. The event is sponsored by the Full Moon Bus Club. Note change of location: This year, the event will be in "D" loop, and "C" and "E" loops will be secondary locations. Please remenber this when you make your reservations, and you can make reservations NOW! These are not w/e sites. If you require these services, the closest sites are in "H" loop. Also, please note these rules about the campsites: no more than one wheeled sleeping unit per site. A Bus/camper is one, a pop-up trailer is one. A passenger bus is not one. There are permitted a total of three sleeping units per site. You can have one bus or trailer and two tents, or three tents. There is a grocery store and a Wal-Mart in Ocean City if you need supplies.  **October 10-12 (Fri-Sun, Columbus Day Weekend) Watkins Glen, New York -  Westies at Watkins 2008. This is the seventh annual LiMBO family campout. Discover the beauty of the Watkins Glen Gorge and beautiful surrounding Finger Lakes Region of New York.  Activities for all including hiking, caravanning, wine tasting, and campfire festivities. Campout is near the clubhouse at Watkins Glen State Park.  **October 12 (Sunday) Brookline, MA - The 23rd Annual Transporterfest Volkswagen Day at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum. Please note- this is a NEW date. This is a fun filled day of VWs, with the emphasis on buses, vans, and transporters. All VWs are welcome though; from 1946 through current models. Held on the historic and beautiful grounds of Larz Anderson Park, in front of the original carriage house, which is now a car museum. Food, fun, friends and plenty of great prizes are available. Pre-registration not necessary. Just come enjoy the day! Hours are 9am to 4pm. Vehicle registration: $12. New parts vendors: $25, used parts: $15. October 19 (Sunday) starting in Simsbury, CT - The CVA’s 10th Annual Fall Foliage Cruise, held rain or shine. Meet at 9am at The Simsbury Fireman’s Clubhouse. Cruise will wind through the scenic roads of Connecticut with a few stops along the way. Please bring a picnic lunch. There will be a dinner after the cruise for those that are interested. Come and enjoy the colors of fall with us. October 24-26 (Fri-Sun) Talladega National Forest, Alabama - The Fifth Annual Alabama Fall Ball at Turnipseed Hunters Camp. We will have Breakfast Burritos on Saturday Morning and a Potluck dinner that night. Plenty of hiking trails lead out of this camp ground so be sure to pack your hiking boots.
