My Vanagon is done
« on: June 14, 2009, 07:59:41 PM »
I just got a call from Jon at FAS.com, that my van was done and ready to go! It was ready too pick-up last week. But he had a great Guy that did all the prep work for his motors and trans, pasted away last week. Which left his crew and him lost in there grief. My heart goes out to him and his family. And many thanks for getting my Vanagon up and running. The Con Kid

TERRIFIC Rich.
As Jon suggested, PLEASE take some pix if possible of the event of picking up the van and bringing it home. I would like to finalize the story of this restoration.

You had better show up at Litchfield this Sunday with it to be officially christened with a bottle of Kirschwasser that will be washed off by predicted thunderstorms, so that new blue paint job won't show what's underneath. The paint job should be well seasoned after last years Maine winter.

Rich, I am so happy its finally done. Did you call in sick to work today and do a Maine roadtrip?  Maybe you will go to Litchfeild now.  I can't wait to see the van and the big smile that must be on your face. :D

I am planning on going up Thursday too get it. Yes Phil I will have camera with me. As for the show I still have to put  my finishing stuff for camping in it! So I am not sure if I will make the show. Jon said I will be impressed, they have added some things I don`t know about and he would not tell me. It has been a long journey but I think I see lite at the end of the tunnel. Oh sh#* is that a train? No really Jon had Mike drive it for a week and he said send it down the road its done. So by the end of the week we will see the rest of the story. Thanks all for your interest and maybe a happy ending. thanks all The Con Kid

A fresh tee shirt and  'Mr Electro dog' too!  You need to be able to heat up your hot dog.

I sent photos too Phil, I don`t know how to post photos to the forum. I am computer idiot, I will let Phil show you. The team FAS did an outstanding job on the van. The 237 mile trip home at 70 miles an hour was great, with fuel to spare. Thank-you team FAS what a great ride. later The Con Kid [/img]
