Mt. Lassen National Park, Mineral, CA.

This park is about 3 hrs north east of San Francisco.  I camped at Manzanita Lake.  Great park that is not overly crowded, even in the summer.   This is the sourthern most of the Cascade Mountains.  In the summer it is a good hike/climb to the summit which is 10,500 ft high.  I think average hikers can handle the hike but bring plenty of water.    Check out http://www.nps.gov/lavo/ for the full beta.
