Are you interested in the VW/ Corvair conversion?

I have owned such a beast in the past and recently saw a few examples in MA this summer.

  Lets here from you

There used to be a nice white early bay that used to go to the Cape Cod campout. It was a nice conversion, looked and sounded good!

Yeah Joe, its been gone almost a year.  I was out of work at the time and I put up a couple cars for sale, it was the first to go.  A man and his son from Richmond got it.

I still have 2 incomplete vair motors in the garage, sold my tranny and motor mounts to Dr Evil like 2 years ago.  Its a lot more expensive than buses, most parts you have to get from clarks, etc.  Around my town there are plenty of buses to salvage.  I got 2 bus motors and lots of spares to support my 3 bus habit.

The bus in Beverly is in tough shape.  Its been cared for, which is to say the rot is evenly spread out.  But the tent is worn and the motor smokes.  If someone out there wants to do a conversion It would be a good donor but its gonna take a lot of work.

Obviously the distance is not going to allow me to move on it, but I told the seller that if he had to get rid of it I would ask my sister-in-law if she would put it in their barn temporarily.  It could be driven to Westford- or maybe even Athol, which is close to Clarks Corvair parts.

Mike Hill says he bought all his Transporters from out west, he doesnt do bodywork or rust repair.  Hes a software engineer. His builder is a guy named Bill.

Well, Im still on vacation, on standby at the AFB. Ill check back when I can.

P

ps 'Everybus' is Columbus day weekend, make your plans now!
