That is where I first heard the song "Our Town" by Iris Demint, on the last episode of Northern Exposure. I LOVED it. That was a great TV series. Very innovative.
I love Iris's voice. She has a natural twang to it.

Phil Specter was the guy tried for murder.

Phil Collins wrote "In the Air tonight"

Phil D. drives a '84 Westy and makes web sites for nutty VW folk like himself.

Words from another Phil

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, Oh lord
I been waiting for this moment for all my life.

Singing around the campfire.

A favorite of mine by Jim Morrison is

What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down.

But to quote from the same song you quoted from and with apologies to Mr, Morrison

The Vee Dubs in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, "Forget the night.
Live with us in forests of azure.
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned - immaculate."

I wish I knew the answer. I've been managing this site for a few years now. We've had our moments of activity but for the most part people come and view but don't comment. I wish they would. I know most of the people you see here in the photographs and they are fun people as most VEE dubs are. But there seems to be a reluctence to post stuff, even if it is just talk. Oh well, so it goes.

Vanagon concerns / 84 Westy Starting Problems
« on: September 21, 2007, 04:50:08 PM »
So, Here's an interesting tidbit. I been having problems starting my Westy. I got gas but no spark. I know from experience the first thing you do is check the grounds, especially on the starter. I did. I polished them to a nice gleam.  It seemed a little better, but I was wrong. It didn't start today.

Hmm, I pulled the wire from the dynamo (ignition coil) off the distributor cap. Part of the wire was left inside. It was burnt. I clipped the end off, attached the metal clip, cleaned out the hole the wire goes into and viola! The westy is back to starting on the first crank.

How about that!  :D

Hey Jim, Did you take a smart pill? That's good advice and clear thinking. Where can I get one of those pills? I'm in desperate need!!!

I've been enjoying their postings. It is my virtual vacation. One day I'll get out there. I have a brother who lives in Oregon.

I have an '84 Westy. I lost power once for a while.  One day I was checking out the engine and I found a loose/broken wire. I re-connected it and all was well again. My advice, give the engine a thorough once over looking for any wire which may be broken or disconnected. Hell, it fixed my power loss problem.

You mentioned that a spark plug cable was replaced, maybe the rummaging around in the engine compartment loosened a wire.

Bus Blog / Cruise-in at Daves Diner
« on: August 02, 2007, 12:27:16 AM »
In my area we have a cruise-in night at a place called Dave's Diner. Sometimes a lot of people show up with all sorts of vehicles. I bring my Westy there which often draws a lot of interest.

BTW- Dave serves ice cream. Vanilla is the most popular. Two scoops anyone?

I thought being near the Ocean that "Surfer Bob" would show to partner with the Gnome.

I'm sorry, but this is just wrong, photos of dolls.
