Where do you like to go Camping? / www.VWRoadTrip.com
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:32:04 PM »
We have several favorite camping spots - It's hard to choose. However, we do know that we never want to camp in Las Vegas again... WHOA! I think my favorite places to camp aren't campgrounds or parks, but down unmarked roads or on the edges of farmland out in the middle of nowhere. death valley was cool... route 1 in California was pretty cool, I always love Baxter State Park (I can't help it, I'm a Mainer), every place has been pretty unique.
We posted some from our last trip on our website www.VWRoadTrip.com - hopefully more will come as soon as the snow is gone.

It's right on the river, very private and for the most part quiet. (the river drowns out any other noise). Alot of trees, not to far from home.

spot 10 and 6 are some of the best spots. my wife and I stayed in 10. It doesn't look very big when you first see it but it actually was big enough for all my tents.

Head thru allenspark, turn on the "co ski road" This road takes you on an unimproved (boulders / ruts / 4wd road) dirt road which continues for some time. Been there...absolutely gorgeuous...of course the campground was full and we stayed at a private campground in the area. The Grand Canyon of the East as they call it is definately chock full of outdoorsy recreation.

Where do you like to go Camping? / Richmond Island, ME

One of the best places I've ever camped was on Richmond Island off the coast of Maine. You have to canoe or kayak out there and you MUST get permission from the owners, but its worth it.
We had to leave the bus behind. :'(
Be sure to check the weather - its open ocean!

P.S. Oh yeah, you have to pee & poo in a bag and bring it off the island when you leave. :-X

Where do you like to go Camping? / North of Highland, Truro, MA
« on: September 03, 2003, 10:11:42 AM »
Our favorite place to camp is North of Highland campground in Truro, MA
www.capecodcamping.com
We usually do two weeks every August and have a wonderful time. There's no electric (unless you are a full or half-season camper) and no campfires (we just go to the Truro town beach for nighttime fires).

The whole campground is very clean, well run and caters mostly to tents and pop-up campers. The showers are especially nice and you can walk or bike a short way to beautiful ocean side beaches. They also have a reasonably priced camp store, laundry room, and a recreation room with ping pong, fooseball and a nice fireplace.
We are planning to be there again next year during the first two weeks of August.

Stan Wohlfarth
aka.
