Ah the Lizard King lives, can you guess where this comes from?  How the hell can a person go to work in the morning. Come home in the evening and have nothing to say? It,s like the people who lurk on Limbo and have nothing to say. just my brain teaser later the King of Cons

Sounds like John Prine to me......Am I close?

We are going again.  It was tons of fun last year and we recruited my brother to drive our other bus, and friends from VT who have a 78 Champagne Westy.

Can't wait for the tubing and the ribs!

I hope it rains a bit between now and then, so the river is a bit high, like it was last year.

See you there!

First bus was  72 Westy that wasn't running, a lady down the road gave me in college.  I fiddled with it for a couple years, never got it going, I pulled the interior out and sent it packing to a junkyard after my folks requested it leave their yard!  So young and naive!  Looking back it wasnt' that bad, I just needed more info and knowledge and would love to have it back now!  Oh well.

Then after college I got a 76 Westy that was in fair shape.  Great price, running!  Took it out through the midwest, up to north north maine, Acadia, etc.... Was the daily driver for summers.

Moved out to Jackson Hole, WY for 6 years.  Saw an ad in the paper for a 78 bus for $500.  Had been sitting in a guys storage unit for 8 years.  The engine died on his way back from Utah and he had it towed back to the storage unit.  Someone had put a custom camper interior into the bus.  We bought it and had AVP send us a new motor, put it in and we put 58,000 miles on it in 6 years.  Drove it back and forth from CT to WY several times including 2 5000 mile trips around the country on our way back east.  Since moving back east it has been a little neglected since we purchased the.......

77 Westy that was on Ebay in CT, didnt' meet the sellers lofty goal, I made him an offer of $1000 and went and picked it up.

It wasn't running so we pulled the motor out of the 76 and put it in the 77.  We have cleaned the bus up and now just try to keep the rust at bay until we can spend the $$$ on some professional body work.

The goal this summer is to have both on the road, so we can go camping and have friends drive the other bus, so neither bus has to sit home on a camping trip!  Maybe then we can get some more folks into the world of our beloved busses!

So, that's the long story of us and our busses!

We also have a 69 beetle that sits in the barn.  Jessica's uncle bought it brand new in Parsippiny (sp??)  NJ and gave it to her brother in 1990 when he bought his 2nd car!  So it's still in the family.  We rebuilt the motor in 2000 and drive it around the yard from time to time.   It need the brakes overhauled and some heater channel work.  But you didn't ask about bugs!  Sorry!
