Boy that is some lucky kid!  Speaking of lucky kid, my friends mom has 2 free tickets to anyplace in the world.  My friend is thinking of taking his son (~9 yr old) to Australia and tooling around for an extended stay.

Any suggestions on camper rental or purchase and re-sell?

Depends where they want go- I would post on Kombi Konnection and advice will come from all over

Thanks for the link - great pictures.  Love the first one with the green split, looks like it slid there by the tire marks on the road - like splits have that much power- LOL!

US- Upper Right side (Massachusetts)

Looks like it but usual 350 Chevy powered Holdens leaving local tavern :)

I would definitely go for second battery- VW already provided area for it.
It can be isolated from starting battery and should be a deep cycle.
You can run all your "add ons" through it and it can be installed to charge through an inverter when you are hooked up to mains power in parks etc.

I am from Western Australia and have been involved with VWs and Kombis for many years.
First VW Bus or Kombi drive as we call them was when my sponsor loaned me one to move house back in 1964.
We started back into them properly about 2000 and have restored a couple for ourselves and quite a few for others.
At the moment organising resto on 1970 Poptop camper for our grandson and trying to find time to do our 73 Poptop camper.
Being retired helps but still have to fit in with other things :)
