Bay window concerns / Hesitation/sputtering

My 79 has begun to hesitate and/or sputter in the mid RPMs in 2nd and 3rd gear when cruising. When accelerating, it is fine. Can't seem to locate what 's causing it. Points, plugs, ignition wires, cap & rotor, condensor, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, ignition coil, air filter, vacuum hoses, have all been replaced recently, and timing, point gap, plug gaps, valve clearances have all been checked and rechecked. It sounds like it's misfiring, and the bus is driveable. Anyone have any ideas where to look next? Thanks as always for any and all help.

Where do you like to go Camping? / Westies in the Woods &/or West Milford

Well it looks like since Stokes State Forest here in NJ has rained on our parade again by limiting the # of buses and folks we can have at our Memorial Day campout that a new venue has appeared; West Milford NJ. (Hi John!) The Stokes trip is still on, with a limit and a few spaces left, but I was wondering if this will split our usual group on that weekend. Personally, I'd like us all to be in one big happy place. I think the kids and I willbe going to Stokes this year,(they are creatures of habbit) but rest assured I will bring this topic up at the campfire. Who out there is going to which? I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. Also if you view my thread in "Bay Window Concerns- 79 Westie Hard start/Idle after warmup" I am thinking of offering a reward to anyone who can help me with my little headache.

Bay window concerns / 73 fuel pump hoses

I put a motor in for a friend in his 73 bus, but I'm not sure which hose goes where on his fuel pump. (my bus is FI) It's stock, and there are two large fittings and one small. Obviously one attaches from the fuel tank, and one goes to the carb, but I dunno which, or where the little one goes to! Can anyone advise? Thanks as always!!

Hi, I have heard that there is a VW camp out at Blue Rocks Campground (my kids and I love that campground) in the fall. But I haven't seen or heard anything about it this year. Anybody have any info on it? Thanks,  Dave

Bay window concerns / 79 Bus hard start / rough running after a short rest

I have heard this is common, but I haven't heard how to remedy it. My 79 Westy starts up and runs great, but after a short stop (say for a cold drink or grocery shopping) it doesn't want to idle. Also if it should stall after being re-started (after it's little rest) it's a real chore to get it fired up again. Turns over fine, but won't fire up.  As for the bus itself, it has a '74 type IV motor (1800) with the 79 heads and I just installed electronic ignition, which makes it run real nice, but the problem existed before the switch-over. Can anyone advise? All help/advice is, as always greatly appreciated.
