I have been away from the LiMBO for a little while but have not forgot about you all.  I went to Granny Grosses Bus 4 this last weekend and had a blast.  After 10 hour (562 miles) I arived in good ole Bevertown PA.  The first people I pulled up to was a crew out of New York.  They were a good bunch of poeple (most VW people are) who were more then happy to make me feel welcomed.  I did move the vanny because of bugs and a sun that would not quit.  After setting up and getting a bite to eat it was time to move onto the campfire.  A couple of monnies pulled out their insturments and were my Ipod of the night.  I joined a group that decided to play some midnight bocce ball(sp?).  Don't ask me how because it was something that you had to see.  Morning came and so did the breakfast .  I ate more then one man should ever consume...pancakes, eggs, pancakes,  eggs, the list goes on.  After taking in that much food I did what any grown man should do, sleep.  After getting up and finding some advil to take the pain that was in my head (had nothing to do with any of the beer...or did it).  Rain was falling but we all gathered under the shelter for door prizes and the 50/50.  I walked away with a cool vw shirt.  After a quick bite in the vanny it was back to the shelter for some music.  A moonie who goes by erock (did not get a chance to talk in person but Eric is his name) and his blue grass band picked us into the night.  As the band ended it's final set it was time to bring out the adult sparklers (you had to be there).  After more talking and hanging out it was time to get to sleep for that long drive back to cincy.  I did win the longest drive with the 562 and it was well worth the trip.  I wish I could share pictures and name of people I met but have forgot both of them...just kidding...I did however really forget the camera.  I hope to see you all soon

Peace-
John

Event/Show/Campout news and reviews / what's up with Dixie Bus
« on: July 30, 2007, 08:25:03 AM »
I have been reading about this gathering and wanted to know if anyone has ever been and what to expect?

I live in Cincinnati so it would be silly for me not to go.  The way I look at it is any time in the vanagon is going to be a good time.

Hey everyone!  Well I'm going to be doing some traveling this summer.  I think my van is going to be fine but my dad thinks he will be getting a call to come pick me up.  In the past I would just take the things I needed for camping.  Since this winter I have started picking up some odds and ends.  I just wanted to see what you all bring.  Thanks

Technical Concerns / splash shield con't 85 weekender
« on: April 04, 2007, 12:26:12 PM »
Hey everyone.  I just wanted to get any input about would could be causing me problems with my van.  This post is taking off from what you might have seen in the mod's forum about making cover for my 02 and other wires.

Lets just act like I have all the money to do what I want to do to my vanagon.  This past winter I went through and fixed a ton of stuff and was hoping to get out and travel this summer.  Well it's early spring and when I thought I had everything fixed my 02 went bad.  I took the old one back and put in a new one and what do you know...problem solved.  Kind of.

I have put almost three thousand miles on my van with the working 02 and the other day it started to rain and what do you know it started with the stalling and missing.  One of the new problems I have noticed is that when I'm in third gear going between 35-40mph it's almost like a loss in power.  It does not die but just not the pick up that was there.  Are these problems connected?  I don't know.  If you can think of anything please help.

Bus Blog / my protest
« on: March 20, 2007, 12:33:23 PM »
I just thought that I would let you all know about my little protest going on in my neighborhood.  Just outside of cincinnati my little town has made a law that now states that you can no longer park campers in your driveway.  Most people could care less what's parked in your driveway.  I say most people but one person does care.

The guy that lives next to me has for years parked a nice old school Scotty trailer in his drive.  The other week the police showed up and told him that he has to move it. They told him that one of the neighbors down the street called in about it.   He is now parking it at his mothers.  He only has three days at a time that he is allowed to keep it in the drive before and after using it.

It may seem silly but I think that this is pointless.  The man lives next to me and I don't care.  Well I have stoped using my van as a everyday car and keep it parked in my driveway.  I call this my protest because I'm keeping my pop top up.  My van is now a camper.  I made a little awning for the side and sit outside when the weather allows.  My neighbor loves this.  People don't know what to make of this.

Just thought I would vent

Where do you like to go Camping? / how about EVERY BUS
« on: March 07, 2007, 12:26:09 PM »
How is everyone in limbo land?  I wanted to know if anyone has any input on every bus?  I was wanting to go to one get together this year and I have seen some cool stuff about eb.  Of course it was on EB's web site so I think they would only say good things.  Being that I live in cincinnati I wanted to stick around this area (east cost).  And if you all have good things to say I would like to go and maybe meet up with fellow bus drivers for the trip.

Modifications and Alterations / engine splash shield for a vanagon?
« on: February 25, 2007, 11:57:39 AM »
Hi everyone.  Over the last couple of months I have been working on my vanagon rebuilding the engine and other things that have needed to be fixed.  Now that the weather is getting better I have been driving the van more and have noticed that when it rains that it runs rough.  Being that I have spent almost all my money on the engine I don't have at this time money to fix the electrical system. I wanted to know if anyone has ever made a splash guard, shield, whatever you want to call it to keep rain out of the engine compartment.  thanks for any help
