I ran across this Website for Rooftop mounted tents that might be applicable and mounted on conventional Vanagons or Weekenders. I don't know that much about them or how much they cost, but they do look interesting.

Those are really cool, I had been looking for one about two years ago (before buying my first viable Westy from Brad and Andrea) and had looked at another manufacturer http://autohomeus.com/ (http://autohomeus.com/) they have several different models also, and can fit them on anything with a roof rack. They even have electric!
