Have you ever pulled into a campsite with a electrical hookup, got out your shore cable, plugged it in and wondered if your Westy is powered up? Well we have. After checking the campsite circuit breaker and the one in the van we still wondered if there is power. We used to carry a small 110VAC reading lamp, dig it out of the closet and plug it in. If it turned on we were in good shape, if not, there was more trouble shooting to do. We found a better way to do this by replacing the OEM duplex receptacle with a standard GFCI receptacle. These usually have an bright LED indicator that lights if the circuit is interupted. Now all we have to do on hookup is check the LED in its tripped position to see current continuity from the campsite outlet to the van, then reset the GFCI.<br><br>It also a good idea to carry and extra heavy duty extension cord, a reverse adapter for a standard 15 amp cord to a 30 amp RV outlet and a standard three-way plug.<br><br> (http://http://www.limbobus.org/copper/albums/userpics/10005/normal_GFI%202.jpg)
