wow im surprised at how non responsive and shy people seem on this site, i see people are looking , but not commenting or just yakking for the sake of talking about our hobby...what gives?
i mean all i need is a groovy chic a bottle of muscatel and some reds and ill lay down vibes like you aint never seen man!
get hip folks!!!
maybe people have lives and dont type to an empty audience like me on a friday nite...hmmm makes me wonder, Joe :D

I wish I knew the answer. I've been managing this site for a few years now. We've had our moments of activity but for the most part people come and view but don't comment. I wish they would. I know most of the people you see here in the photographs and they are fun people as most VEE dubs are. But there seems to be a reluctence to post stuff, even if it is just talk. Oh well, so it goes.
-
So this a call to all you volks out their, step up and be heard. Don,t just look at the photo,s and say wow they look like they are having fun! Post your clubs photos it,s easy to do, if I can do it so can you! I see a lot of post to the events, now follow up with some photos or a story. If you have problems posting give Phil an email, he has gone above the call of duty to this site. I know he has saved my ass more than once. Phil keep up the great work, and as far as you volks go get off your dead ASS and lets see what youv,e been up to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! later rmace aka the Con Kid

If you were in TX you would be looking for a way to get away from some people that once they get started can't find a place to stop.
:)
-
yeah man it may just be that thing people do in New England,
in the words of Jim Morrison
"No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn"
-
A favorite of mine by Jim Morrison is
What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down.
But to quote from the same song you quoted from and with apologies to Mr, Morrison
The Vee Dubs in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, "Forget the night.
Live with us in forests of azure.
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned - immaculate."

Ah the Lizard King lives, can you guess where this comes from? How the hell can a person go to work in the morning. Come home in the evening and have nothing to say? It,s like the people who lurk on Limbo and have nothing to say. just my brain teaser later the King of Cons

Am I bad, I should have known that. Someone who just loves to bust a little ass. The Con Kid

I see what you mean. I just posted a request for technically help and decided to look around. There are months between a post and a reply. I would comment but figure the response would be outdated.
-
Hopefully my reply was timely enough. I think there are so many forums now = perhaps that's the problem.

Sounds like John Prine to me......Am I close?

You know I go on the Samba and Full Moon and there are posts every minute it seems. For some reason this site seems kinda dead. I check it out every now and then but there never seems to be hardly any new posts. It seems to pick up during the warmer months when campouts occur. By the way 85-gon, where in Cape May do you live? I am over in Villas with my 72 Bus. We should get together sometime and talk about our buses.
-
Not really shy, but just thawing out!

John Prine is correct!
It is from "Angel From Montgomery"
-
Maybe we just need a couple of more categories - for general chit-chat?
Any ideas from anyone?
-
Angel from Montgomery is correct but John Denver did it first I,m not sure of the author but its been done by a lot of folks. nice job

John Prine wrote the song.
I got the following explanation from the http://jpshrine.org/lyrics/ (http://jpshrine.org/lyrics/) website:
Angel From Montgomery notes
An "Angel from Montgomery" refers to a pardon for a prison sentence from the governor. It is also used to refer to a last minute pardon from the death sentence. The phrase originated in Alabama where the capital is Montgomery.
The way John puts it the woman is living in her own self made prison that she can't escape from, hence she needs a pardon (the angel from Montgomery).
from Great Days the John Prine Anthology: "I had a buddy named Eddie Holstein in Chicago who was a songwriter - he later became a club owner - and he wanted to co-write with me. I'd just written Hello In There.
I said, "Eddie, that's all I got to say about old people. How about one about a middle-aged woman that feels older than she is?"
He said "Okay."
"I wrote the first verse, and he lost interest in her. A week later, I finished the thing."
"Eddie always used to tell people that I was writing about the Montgomery Ward building in Chicago, which has an angel on top that sticks out on a flagpole. I didn't know that, but that's where Eddie thought I got the idea."
"The woman, she's gonna keep fixing dinner, living in this house, staying married. She probably won't get up the nerve to leave the guy. But it's just that - a portrait of a lot of people who are doing that."
-
I didn,t know that thanks I heard John sing the song in the mid 70,s I allways loved the lyrics. I,d put them on pare with the Lizard King. later the Lord of Cons
-
Yes, this is one of many great John Prine songs. In fact I am looking at my autographed fly swatter, hanging on my office wall, as I type. I have been following him since the mid 70's. :D
-
I just recently saw Susan Thedeski do the song and it's always one of my favorites in her show. another great cover of the song is by Bonnie Raitt. Maybe we could get the Garden Nome to have a campfire sing along at our next campout instead of the Hamburg show or maybe invite Jahn Prine along for a Illegal Smile sing along.

Here's a favorite song of mine by John Prine, "In spite of Ourselves"

And when you're done watching that, watch Iris Demint doing "Our Town"

I think Our Town was the song that was used in the last scene of Northern Exposure. I liked that show alot. She toured with John prine a bunch in the late 90's early 00's I think.
I love listening to John Prine as well. It's surprising to me how many people never heard of him.
Glad to see there's some appreciation for his stuff on here. When he and Steve Goodman got together it was great too!
-
That is where I first heard the song "Our Town" by Iris Demint, on the last episode of Northern Exposure. I LOVED it. That was a great TV series. Very innovative.
I love Iris's voice. She has a natural twang to it.
-
Saw Iris a few months back in Sellerville, PA.
A great show.....
-
Ahhh yes Angel from Montgomery. The city I live in. The home of Hank SR and Nat king Cole. Another great cover of this song is done by Ben Harper. Hope everyone is having a beautiful Day.

From the volks I met at BBB this past weekend it does not seem that anyone there was shy..We survived the wind and the rain...
Seems like some people even checked out my shower stall! That cant be too shy :)
-
i know, i for one troll alot, only because some of the folks on here are like walking bentley manuals and im one of those trial by error kind of guys that needs the mcguyver type of persons advice to get the job done...lots of folks are asking technical questions here and   well unless ive got two tries to get it right a stick of gum, a paperclip, rubberband and matches im useless..
-
there is something about a rubber band and paperclip that can fix anything..and dont forget duct tape...when in doubt duct tape it :) (im joking LOL)
Yes so many people know what they are talking about. And the amout of ideas and different viewpoints and what different things they do to their busses is excellent. I learned so much here and at the campouts there is so much information its overload :) Can always use info as 3 of our busses do not run currently. Although the 85 weekender named Muffin best be running soon..$$$
