This a marvelous PA State Park with over 400 sites, some with electric hookup and a beautiful lake for swimming and fishing. We camped here several years ago while touring the Altoona area, to visit such railroad attractions as the Altoona RR Museum, Horseshoe Curve, Gallitzin Tunnels and the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site. You'll enjoy it all in a Westfalia. Incidentally, Prince Gallitzin was a Polish Noble who came to America and became a Catholic Priest in Maryland. Because of his engineering education he was sent to the Altoona area to administer to the needs of the workers and their families who worked constructing  the railroad over the Allegheny Range. The Tunnels, Town and State Park are named in his memory.

I forgot to mention that there is another attraction in nearby Loretto and that is the Federal Prison built on the grounds of the former Carmelite monastary built by Charles Schwab, the Pittsburg steel magnate. The former Governor of Connecticut will begin serving his sentence on corruption charges here where some of his prison duties will include making egg salad sandwiches, picking dandelions for salads and teaching a course in Ethics to his fellow inmates. From a hill adjacent to the prison you might even catch a view on him relaxing in his hottub after a hard day doing these tasks.
